Dynamos are looking stronger as they beat their rivals Highlanders 2-0 at the President Inauguration Cup yesterday at National Sports Stadium.

Kudakwashe Kamwala and Quality Kangadze scored enough goals to ensure that Dynamos were crowned champions after they beat Highlanders in the cup.

DeMbare fielded a strong side while Highlanders exhibited their reserves, in the match that marked President Emerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration.

DeMbare coach LIoyd Mutasa was delighted with their victory against their rivalries.

“We did very well. The only difference was the two goals that we scored. We are happy; we are in a celebratory mood like every other Zimbabwean. The youngsters did well, there were good combinations. There was a desire to beat Highlanders, “said Mutasa.

The Blues capitalized in early courtesy of Kamwala’s strike in the sixth minute. He managed to capitalize on a mistake by Highlanders goal keeper Prosper Matutu who failed to clear the ball from Kamwala who easily found the back of the net.

Dynamos doubled the lead in71st minute after Kangadze scored the penalty spot. Highlanders’ defender was punished after he handled the ball from Kudzai Dhemer’s shot which was destined for goal with the goal keeper already beaten.

Highlanders coach Madhinda Ndlovu was not shocked about the match and the results as he used the match to prepare for the next season and give non regular players game time.

“There was nothing much to read about in this game. We didn’t read much into winning, but it was about giving players that didn’t have game time an opportunity,” he said.

“You can see that we have gone into the twilight of the league, we don’t want to get to the end of the season while we haven’t accessed them game time. Most of the players who played today are young stars. We want to see if we can keep them for next season,” he added.

Dynamos boss happily celebrated his side’s win over their opponents at the inauguration ceremony of President Emerson Munangagwa.
